The Safe Gun Storage Saves Lives campaign is brought to you by local and state organizations dedicated to the health and well-being of all the people of Austin and Travis County. Our goal is to help inspire and educate gun owners on the utmost importance of safely storing firearms to prevent unwanted injuries and deaths in our city and our county. Shootings are increasing in our area resulting in death or injury, and suicide is the second leading cause of death. Unsecured firearms increase the likelihood of these unwanted injuries and fatalities. Please help us meet our goal of safely storing all area guns. Thank you for your help!

Office of Violence Prevention
Everyone deserves safety. The Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) takes a public health approach to creating equitable access to safety across Austin/Travis County. OVP supports programs to interrupt violence in spaces where it is most prevalent, create spaces for healing from violence, and help residents keep conflict from escalating to violence.
OVP partners with Lock Arms for Life to connect families in Central Texas with the education and resources needed to safely store firearms, an action proven to reduce accidents, suicides, and theft in homes and vehicles. OVP also provides support to address the stress that can lead to firearm injury or death at www.austintexas.gov/stress.

Texas Department of Public Safety
The Texas Legislature charged the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) with the task of establishing and promoting a statewide safe gun storage campaign. To spread the message about the importance of safe gun storage, DPS created a myriad of resources for Texans, the media, agency and business partners, and state leaders to utilize to talk about why it is vitally important for everyone to store their firearms and ammunition safely. Through a robust media campaign featuring the slogan, Keep ‘Em Safe Texas, DPS has targeted Texans from all walks to life and encouraged them to find safe storage solutions to fit their family’s needs and budget.
The SafeGunStorageTexas.com website contains helpful resources — ranging from printable safe gun storage checklists to testimonial videos...to tools on how to talk to others about safe gun storage — for everyone to use and share. DPS has also worked to create materials in both English and Spanish, making these tools and resources more accessible to all Texans.

Our mission at Lock Arms for Life is to inspire all firearm owners to use firearms safely – for our families, our friends, and our neighbors. While we support the 2nd Amendment right of all Americans to own firearms, we also ask that that power be balanced with the responsibility to eliminate the possibility of accidental injury or death.
Our Goal: The goal of Lock Arms for Life is for all firearm owners to keep all guns locked up at all times when not in use.
